On exotic consistent anomalies in (1+1)$d$: A ghost story

چکیده

We revisit 't Hooft anomalies in (1+1)$d$ non-spin quantum field theory, starting from the consistency and locality conditions, find that consistent U(1) gravitational cannot always be canceled by properly quantized (2+1)$d$ classical Chern-Simons actions. On one hand, we prove certain exotic can only realized non-reflection-positive or non-compact theories; on other without insisting reflection-positivity, present a caveat to inflow paradigm. For mixed anomaly, propose an mechanism involving U(1)$\times$SO(2) action with boundary condition matches SO(2) gauge spin connection. Furthermore, show this anomaly gives rise isotopy of topological defect lines. The extrinsic curvature improvement term, but at cost creating periodicity anomaly. survey holomorphic $bc$ ghost system which realizes all anomalies, end comments subtlety regarding finite subgroups U(1).

Consistent nonlinear KK reduction of 11d supergravity on AdS7 × S4 and self-duality in odd dimensions

We show that there exists a consistent truncation of 11 dimensional supergravity to the ’massless’ fields of maximal (N=4) 7 dimensional gauged supergravity. We find the complete expressions for the nonlinear embedding of the 7 dimensional fields into the 11 dimensional fields, and check them by reproducing the d=7 susy transformation laws from the d=11 laws in various sectors. In particular we...

A note on consistent anomalies in noncommutative YM theories

Via descent equations we derive formulas for consistent gauge anomalies in noncommutative Yang–Mills theories. The growing interest in noncommutative YM theories is calling our attention on old problems. We would like to know if or to what extent old problems, solutions or algorithms in commutative YM theories fit in the new noncommutative framework. One of these is the question of chiral anoma...

Pilomatricoma—unveiling the ghost story: A case series

Introduction: Pilomatrixoma are benign skin neoplasms of hair follicle origin but often are misdiagnosed. They present as superficial masses of the head and neck especially in children. This present study is aimed at pointing to awareness among the clinicians as well as the pathologists about the varied presentations and morphological features of the entity. Case Series: Five cases were include...

Ghost Condensation and a Consistent Infrared Modification of Gravity

We propose a theoretically consistent modification of gravity in the infrared, which is compatible with all current experimental observations. This is an analog of the Higgs mechanism in general relativity, and can be thought of as arising from ghost condensation—a background where a scalar field φ has a constant velocity, 〈φ̇〉 = M. The ghost condensate is a new kind of fluid that can fill the u...

Consistent gravitational anomalies for chiral bosons

Exact consistent gravitational anomalies for chiral bosons in two dimensions are treated both with the Schwinger-DeWitt regularization and independently through a cohomological procedure. The diffeomorphism transformations are described by a single ghost which allows to climb the cohomological chain in a unique way. Work supported in part by M.U.I.R.
